Greetings from the East Coast of Australia - I'm currently about half way between Cairns and Brisbane, on a tour bus full of women!! Out of the 25 people on board, 20 are women!!! At some point I might have thought this was a good thing, but what a disaster!!! So the girls are doing their girly things and us men are a bit left out. Oh well...
The tour started off in Cairns, with a trip in a gondola/cable car over some virgin rainforest.

The next day we took a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef. No underwater photos... as paying A$60 to rent a waterproof digital camera seemed a bit much, but snorkelling around the reef was really quite amazing (except for a mask that didn't seem to remain watertight for long) But it was a great cruise out to the reef on a catamaran, with lots of time for snorkelling at the reef. Plus the wind picked up in the afternoon so we had a great sail home.
We then set off to Undara, where we spent a night at a campsite. (I thought I was done with that!!! grrrrr....) The claim to fame of Undara is "lava tubes", where apparently lava flows made these tunnels through the rock. Possible number 4 on the list of stupid things to see, but since it was an optional activity and I didn't actually go.... it doesn't make the list. Instead I just stayed by the pool with a couple of my kangeroo friends (really, there were quite a few just happily hopping around the campsite).

We went from there to a 2-day sailing trip around the Whitsunday Islands... paradise... and short enough to avoid getting too grumpy about the lack of sleep!!! (although this time I had a nice big bunk all to myself, without having to share with a stranger... although there was about a 4 inch gap between myself and the top of the cabin, so let's just say I bumped my head a couple of times in the night... DOH!!!)

Now, we're off to a place called Rockhampton, to see a rodeo. YEE HAW!!! It's pretty much just a place to break a long journey into two, as the next main destination is Fraser Island, famous for sand dunes (yep, more of those!) and dingos.
