First Tour Booked!

That didn't take long!!!!! I still don't have my itinerary close to finalised because of hiccups with my Round-the-World ticket, but there's one bit of it set in stone. With my cousin Tracy getting married in Mexico in November, I'm DEFINITELY going to be there... and I'll be continuing on to spend about 3 weeks in Central America.

Here's the tour... http://www.trekamerica.co.uk/tours/rut.html ... 10th to 30th November...

While dodging hurricanes and the like, it will be 3 weeks of visiting Mayan temples in Mexico, Guatamala, Honduras and Belize, with a few days to relax on the beach in Cayo Caulker and the Riviera Maya! Good thing I speak Spanish!!! Dos cervezas por favor!!!

I hope it all goes well in Mexico. I've been there twice, with bad experiences both times. Once I tried going to Cancun, but my luggage didn't make it from the plane to the conveyor belt. So I spent a day buying beach wear... turns out that was the only sunny day of my trip... the rest of the time it rained!!! Good way to catch up on American television, but not what I had in mind... (why the heck do Mexicans call it a "control remoto", when it's definitely a "mando a distancia"?!?!?!)

The other time I went to some Mexican friends wedding in Puerto Vallarta. Some of my friends and I rented a villa for a week. One day we noticed that we were all a bit short of cash... it seems the cleaning lady went through the wallets in our rooms, taking 500 peso notes and replacing them with 50s!! Even more appalling was replacing US$ 50s with $20s!!! A bunch of financially savvy bankers... Grrrrr.... and when we raised a fuss we ended up without a cleaner for the week with no compensation for our loss...

So here's hoping the third time in Mexico goes alright!!!

Hmmm...hopefully the third time will be the charm. Have fun! We won't be coming to the wedding. But we'll see you in December.
