Sukhothai + Chiang Mai

Well, we had to leave the beach eventually... can't become too suntanned or let the bugs (mozzies, ants, spiders, everything!!) continue to eat us alive... so we decided to head off to Northern Thailand. The first stop was a place called Sukhothai - UNESCO-listed ruins. It's amazing really to contemplate how the Cambodians were building massive temples and monuments, while their neighbours in Thailand well... weren't quite so ambitious. We had planned to spend a couple of days, but one was definitely enough. Some half decent ruins, but nothing to make a special trip for...

Anyhow, we changed our plans and hopped on a bus to Chiang Mai, which has some nice temples, but otherwise is a base for excursions, treks, etc. which we'll be doing for the next few days...
