Out of Australia

So after yet another photo at the Tropic of Capricorn, it was off to the rodeo! YEE HAW!!! Basically the local teenagers are allowed to try their hand at riding a bull as practice for when they become old enough to do it for real, while their families (and a few random tourists) watch on during their dinner. So, a curious evening for us city types...

It was then on to Fraser Island, which is the world's largest "sand island" in the world. I'm not sure exactly how trees and other vegetation manages to grow in sand, but anyhow...

Fraser Island was supposed to be one of the highlights, but maybe I'm just a bit fed up with sand!!! After Namibia and Ayers Rock, I'm still finding sand in pockets, bags, shoes, etc.

So now I write from Texas (watching Obama get elected! Woo Hoo!) after what feels like 3 days of travel. The last night in Australia... the group went out to a club... arriving back at about 3am, I went to do laundry and got an hour or so of sleep before catching the bus transfer to the airport. 13 hours flying to Los Angeles (getting about 6-7 hours of sleep), 4 hours transfer in LA and another 3 hour flight to Dallas. Whew... that's tiring just writing about it... (at least I was at the front of the bus!!!) Anyhow, so who knows where my body clock happens to be... but it's time to go to Mexico and do some serious partying!!!!
